Nine years ago, our family was scattered across four different states, and the distance weighed heavily on me. I wanted our lives to feel connected again, so we began searching for a business to buy, something that would bring us closer to our children. When our oldest daughter told us her family was moving to Tucson, I shifted my search to Southern Arizona.

That’s when I came across A‑Authentic Garage Door Service, a small business for sale in Tucson. I asked my husband what he thought of the idea, and he simply said, “I think we can learn garage doors.” With that encouragement, I flew down to look at the business in person. We put in an offer, and to our delight, it was accepted.

On my second trip, I returned to Tucson specifically to search for a home. I found one, made an offer, and suddenly everything began falling into place. We closed on the business on July 17, 2017, and began learning everything we could about garage doors, about Tucson, and the surrounding area and about what it means to serve a new community with integrity.

Leaving South Dakota was a big decision, but we have never regretted it. Tucson and Marana welcomed us with warmth, and we quickly felt at home. Our children now work alongside us in the business, and we get to see our grandchildren almost every day something that once felt impossible when our family was spread across four states.

What began as a desire to bring our family closer has grown into a deep appreciation for this community. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Marana and the surrounding areas, and we look forward to many more years of being part of this vibrant, supportive place we now proudly call home.
